Make sure you are standing straight, because the foot expands slightly under weight.

Measure your foot width at the widest part of your foot, usually across the ball of the foot. Stand barefoot on a sheet of paper, mark the outermost widest points, and measure the distance between them. Make sure your foot is flat on the floor and that the marks or tape measure are not angled.
